Using PMS – The Productivity Management System™ to Discover

“When I dream big, I see the possible, I discover potential, and realize that almost anything is within my reach. – Heidi Richards

"The purpose of setting goals is to help us to focus our attention. The mind will not reach toward achievement until it has clear objectives. The magic begins when we set goals. It is then that the switch is turned on, the current begins to flow, and the power to accomplish becomes a reality” – from The Best of Success by Career Press

The word "goal" provokes different emotions in people. Some people refuse to set goals for fear of failure. Some people don’t have a vision; they live day to day never thinking that there may be more to this existence. Having goals gives us direction; they are our life’s compass. Great athletes, entrepreneurs and high achievers use goal setting to accomplish their life’s mission. Having goals helps you focus your attainment of knowledge and organize your resources. Goal setting gives you long-term vision and short-term motivation. Short-term goals are stepping-stones to your long-term goals.

Discover what you want. What do you want out of your relationships, your career your life? One way to discover your purpose, to create a vision for your life, is to make a detailed list of your hopes, dreams and aspirations. Start by answering in detail the following questions:

What would you do, if you won a million dollars today?

What makes you the happiest, most fulfilled?

What do you think about when you daydream?

What do you talk about most of the time?

If you were granted three wishes, what would they be?

What would you most like to achieve in the following areas of your life: career/business, health, family life, spiritually, education, community?

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

What would you most like to be doing at this very minute? Where would you like to be?

What is most important to you; family, career, health, community, personal development, education, spiritual development, enlightenment? The answer to this question will help you prioritize the list in question six.

What, if any, bad habits would you like to quit?

What possessions would you most like to have (new car, house, etc.)?

In what type of adventures would you like to participate most (racing, backpacking, skydiving, etc.)?

Whom would you most like to meet during your lifetime?

Discovering the answers to these questions will help you develop your life plan and categorize your goals list. You will be able to crystallize those things that are most important to you. Goal planning is a skill that requires practice to be effective. To be successful at planning and achieving goals requires a system. And developing your own system could take you years of time, research and resources. That is why the PMS – Productivity Management System™ was created, to help you create and achieve your goals in less time. The article is based on the PMS – Productivity Management System™ a system that was developed to help you set and accomplish your life’s goals. When you join the Women’s ECommerce Association, International, you get the complete system including the PMS/LAF™ Life Areas Focus Chart – based upon the steps referenced in this article.
