Nothing is neutral. Every decision we make and every action we take moves us closer to success or failure.

Why is leadership an important element in strategy implementation?

Find an example in a MAJOR business periodical of the CEO’s key role in strategy implementation and explain it fully to the class.

Steve Jobs is a good example. He came back to Apple and turned the company around. (Earned two billion dollars in the process!).

Leadership is important because when implementing a strategy, your troops have to really trust you and see you personally in action. The leader has to “live” by the values he publicizes, and also has to perform at a high level to set the bar as high as possible for his troops.

Think of Russell Crowe in the movie Gladiator! :-)
