the importance of leadership in the strategy process?

Taking “the strategy process” to mean strategic planning process, the importance of leadership would involve a number of factors related to achieving a useful outcome. My list of such factors would include:
- A leader who is able to stimulate productive, team discussion
- A leader who is able to set clear, addressable objectives
- A leader who is decisive and rational in decision-making
- A leader who is committed to his/her decisions and to the team being led.

These factors in a leader bring credibility and reliability to the strategic planning process, so that all involved are confident in the final strategy recommendations, and confident about their execution.
